- 北邙山下 新定茅屋
At the foot of Mount Beimang, you build a new thatched house and settle there. - 花笑春風 几上之肉

The year ahead
This is a year of laying new foundations in a place that seemed finished. Unexpected joys arrive too, like flowers smiling in the spring breeze. Things work themselves out before you know it, and bad turns into good.
This is a year of settling in anew in a place that seemed like an ending. Mount Beimang in the first verse is the place the ancients used to symbolize the end of life. Building a new thatched house below it means sending off the old and making a modest new start. As in the second verse, unexpected joys and good food come to that new place. The third verse is a comfort that things work themselves out even if you don't strain to know everything. The last verse teaches that if you sweep the dust from your home and offer devotion, even ill fortune turns to good. At the start of the year, in late autumn, and at year's end there are matters of family and health to look after, but in the ninth month a bright energy comes in which all things are accomplished. It's a year when blessings come to those who tidy up and wait.
