The year ahead
This is a year with a long, tiring road ahead. Blessings don't settle, like a clear river that won't stand still, so you may often change where you are. Be grateful for small joys, like a young dove fed five times, and you'll find somewhere to lean even after the flowers have fallen.
This is a year with a long road to travel and many hills to cross. As in the first verse, when you get over one hurdle another appears, so you tire easily — set your pace with a long breath from the start. The second verse means you may often change positions or residences, so don't rush each time — weigh things carefully. The young dove of the third verse is this reading's warm light. Like the dove cooing tenderly while eating thin porridge five times a day, if you're grateful for simple things, your heart grows rich. The last verse depicts the loneliness of looking for somewhere to lean after the flowers fall, but all the more, your affection for those close to you becomes a solid support. In the sixth month there's a chance to gain a name with a benefactor's help, and in the eleventh month you find a way to live at a dead end. If you're just careful in the seventh, eighth, and twelfth months, it's a year when, though weary, you find your way in the end.
