The original verse and its meaning
- 寶鼎煮丹 仙人之藥
You brew an elixir in a treasured cauldron, and it becomes a precious medicine fit for immortals. - 日麗中天 金玉滿堂
The sun shines in the middle of the sky, and gold and jade fill the house. - 天門積開 名振北極
The gate of heaven swings wide open, and your name resounds as far as the North Star. - 世業何如 橫財豐饒
As for the work handed down through generations, unexpected wealth flows in abundantly.
The verses follow the public-domain Tojeong Bigyeol held by the National Library of Korea; the meanings are Luna Alley's own retelling.
The year ahead
This is a year when something precious ripens and works great wonders. The sun shines at the center of the sky and gold and jade fill your home. The gates of heaven open and your name rings out high, and unexpected wealth comes in generously, more than from the work handed down in your family.
This is a year when what you've long labored over ripens and shows great effect. The first line, brewing an elixir in a treasured cauldron, means work that has taken time and devotion finally turns into a precious harvest. The sun shining at its height and gold and jade filling the house means your energy rises to its highest and your household becomes plentiful. The gate of heaven opening and your name resounding to the North Star is a promise that your skills and name will become widely known and recognized in high places. The last line, unexpected abundant wealth in work handed down through generations, means unforeseen profit will come from a family business or the main work you've long done. The second, fourth, sixth and eighth lunar months are especially bright, and financial energy shines evenly all year. But in the seventh lunar month needless loss comes from the south, and in the eleventh lunar month your body may tire, so take it easy in just those two months. Just as an elixir becomes medicine only when brewed slowly, a heart that tends the fire without rushing completes this year's blessings.
A word from Master Tojeong
“Good medicine comes not from a fierce fire but from an even one. When the sun is at its height, look after the neighbor in the shade, and your name will shine all the longer.”
