The year ahead
Your prime seems to have passed and your usefulness to have shrunk, and it's hard both to go forward and to step back. Even so, you'll meet a valuable person and receive great kindness. You have both talent and virtue, so you can handle small matters and large ones alike.
This is a year when, though your prime seems to have passed and you're taking a pause, you find your usefulness again through precious help. The autumn fan of the first verse is something prized in summer but folded away when it turns cool, so you may feel hurt at not being valued as before. The falling white dew is a sign that the season has changed, meaning don't be bound by old ways — change your bearing to suit the new season. As in the second verse, there's the frustration of being unable to go forward or back, but the more so, the better it is to hold your place than to move rashly. The third verse says you'll meet a benefactor and receive great grace, so treat superiors and elders with sincerity. The fourth verse praises you for having both talent and virtue, so when your time comes you have the strength to handle things big or small. A bright energy comes in spring and late autumn, and there are things to be careful about in early summer and for a time in autumn. Even a folded fan opens again next summer, so don't fear the wait.
